Yes it is pronounced like the Micheal Keaton character “Beatle-juice”. For those of you who are not familiar with astronomy Betelgeuse is (normally) the brightest star in the constellation of Orion. It is Orion’s right shoulder star (his right, not yours).
Even though Betelgeuse has always been a variable brightness star, a few months ago news began to circulate about Orion losing brightness in a rapid way that had never been observed before. This fueled mass speculation that the star might be in the process of going Supernova.
A typical news story at the time can be found https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-00561-z
Then in January 2020 a major burst of gravity waves was detected coming from the direction of the star, see article here https://www.sciencealert.com/astronomers-detected-weird-gravitational-waves-from-the-direction-of-betelgeuse.
The dimming seems to have stopped, see article https://www.sciencealert.com/betelgeuse-has-officially-stopped-dimming current explanation for the dimming seems now to be stellar dust, see article https://www.space.com/betelgeuse-star-dimming-just-dust.html and Astronomers are largely dismissing the idea that Betelgeuse will be going supernova anytime soon based solely on the brightness data.
The unexplained burst of gravitational waves from the star as well as the source of the interstellar dust that seems responsible for the dimming when taken together make for interesting speculation. Could the stellar dust have been ejected from the star itself? No matter how you look at it strange things are happening out there and Astronomers will be watching closely.
